Wise men still adore him
This weekend was our ward Christmas party. It was such a fun idea, a lot of people came dressed in biblical clothing and there was a short program and Derek sang in quartet. It was beautiful. I am truly so lucky to have married such an amazing man. But it was truly touching and helped many to get into the true spirit of Christmas.
Derek in his quartet. It looks like him and Christian were a little rebellious in dressing up. Nick and Brother Alconcel look pretty authentic.
Speaks for itself
They sang Silent Night and invited everyone to sing along
Derek didn't get to eat prior to the performance so we made a couple plates for him, let's just say he was hungry.

Face off
Derek has many talents and hockey is one of them, he is actually an amazing hockey player. He played for a couple years in high school and now he plays when he gets a chance at a friends house. He has asked me to come a couple of times and I finally made it out this last weekend. No I didn't play but I took some pictures of him kicking but, even the other players were commenting about his hockey awesomeness.

Oh the places we have gone... part deux
I know I have been home for a month and am still posting but I am currently trying to catch up on two years worth of scrapbooking. (not including my mission.... yikes) As I was going through pictures I didn't want to post every single one of each memorial but I promise we saw all of them, and a whole lot of museums.
So I hope you enjoyed my vacation update. It was fun to go through pictures and remember how fun it was to be at our nations capital.
We were in the National Library, it was beautiful!
We went to the Baltimore Aquarium, it was basically amazing. This was at the dolphin show, not nearly as cool as Sea World but it was only 3 dollars more, for an extra fifteen minutes of enjoyment.
And what is a vacation without finding the nearest cupcakery. I tend to look for them on every vacay, although nothing tops Crumbs.

Oh the places we have gone... part 1
So after waiting what seems like forever, I have finally moved our pictures from Maryland. So allow me to give you our vacay tour. Please don't hate me for posting so many pictures.
Giving the Mr some lovin'.
I had to use the yucky port o john but didn't want to take my scarf or my purse so Derek was kind enough to wear it for me.
The cutest chair ever!!
Tara and Danny
Here's Johnny! (creepy)
The coolest slides ever!
Look how much we've grown this year. (notice the slight slant of the ruler)
The beginning our most awesome adventure.
Aren't we cute.
Derek and Danny played so many video games together. I think they were play bocce ball. But he would always say stuff about being a wizard.
oh my goodness, I loved the fall colors.
So did Tara and Danny
We enjoyed stopping by the D.C. Temple. Which by the way is not in D.C. it's like an hour away from D.C. I felt lied too! ;)

Is that you Batman?
So sorry! I haven't come up with pictures from Maryland yet. I haven't figured out how to transfer them from Derek's computer. But to hold you off for a few more days I would like to show you my newest cake. Derek helped tremendously with this cake. I seriously couldn't have done it without his help. So with much further adiu here is my inspiration.
And here is my handsome hubby chugging along.
And here is the final cake, complete with cake underneath the "canvas".

Take me to a place far away...
I feel like those words could be part of a song. Anyway, Derek and I went to visit his sister and brother in law in Maryland this last week. Can I just say it was a blast. All the pictures are on Derek's computer who currently isn't home so I will have to leave you in suspense of our awesomeness. I will just say captain crunch french toast. MMM... Good.

Mint and Cherries Blossom
This is what I have been working on week. Man cakes are keeping me so busy lately. This was a wedding cake for one of Derek's friends, she gave me a lot of free reign all that mattered were that it fit the color specs and that there were cherry blossoms. Best quote of the day, "This cake looks almost as good if not better than some of our professional bakers" -Wedding planner.

Yes sir.
I got to experience my youngest brother being sworn in to the Army. Of the three of my brothers that are now in the Army, Austin's is the only swearing in I have been able to experience. And I must say it was really awesome to see all these young men being sworn in to protect us, to protect this country, to follow orders. I am grateful for all our service men and all that they do and I am definitely impressed by all three of my baby brothers. May the Lord watch over them.
Glimpse.
We got a glimpse of fall yesterday... It was pouring, and it was beautiful. I love rain. I love the way it makes you want to eat soup and curl up under the covers. I love how you want to be close with the ones you love when the weather changes (there is just something about the heat and not wanting to be touched, am I the only one) hahah. So all I could think about yesterday on my 15 min drive turned 30 min (it was literally pouring and we were driving 40mph on the freeway, I was okay with that, I felt safer) was making soup. I love fall and winter cause all I can think of is soup. I finally decided on baked potato soup, mmm good. The Doc. was okay with that, of all the soups I make I think it's his fave. My original post was going to say I love fall now back to decorating my wedding cake I guess you got a little more. But I will be back after all this cake chaos is gone. But here is a picture which by the way I wish I could be more creative about. But this is what my oven currently looks like, there is also one cake hiding in my fridge.
