The Miserables

Back in December Derek and I were at the Nutcracker and while looking through the playbil we noticed that there were a handful of shows coming that we wanted to see but one in specific stuck out Les Miserables. It stuck out for two reasons, #1 I've seen it before and Derek hasn't (always a good reason to see a show again) #2 It fell on June's birthday (my awesome mother in law) But just falling on her birthday isn't significant it's the mere fact that she loves Les Mis on all their family car trips that is all they would listen to. She loves it so much that I even knew it was her favorite. So Derek and I and his sister Tara and her husband Danny pitched in to buy tickets for Derek's mom June and her husband Steve (his birthday is the same week, so it was a shared present). And as a bonus Derek and I of course had to go with them. The kicker of the story is that we purchased the tickets back in February and would always tell her that we had her gift but it was so big we couldn't give it to her till the day of her birthday. So we went out to dinner at Mattas (if you haven't been there before go, its delish) then to stall for time we went to the bass pro shop and looked around and tried fudge and cinnamon almonds and shot guns in the shooting range. I'm not going to lie, I want to go again there were so many cool things there. Who would have thought I would enjoy an outdoors store.  I think we could even get away with using it as a date night. Well anyway here are some pictures from a fun night.

Celebrate good times, c'mon.

So it hasn't been overly busy but has been busy enough. Where to start? Derek was accepted as a seminary teacher, teaching three hours at Mesquite high school next fall. So he is currently planning out lessons and getting paid to read the Old Testament. And after this year he can be accepted full time as a seminary teacher. Derek had to send in an application and a picture to the first presidency so one morning I got up extra early to take said picture before he went to school. It was so funny because Derek only got ready from the waist up, from the waist down he was wearing running shoes and scrubs for work. But I must say we looked pretty good
Oh and I told Derek I wouldn't post this but I knew that was a lie from the moment I took the picture. I was prepping the automatic timer and well this happened. And it was too funny not to share.
Let's see... other exciting happenings. I graduated from cosmetology school! Tell you what I never thought I was going to finish, a year felt like forever. So here are some pictures from graduation.

Awe such a good husband! I graduated right in time for memorial weekend, so we of course were super busy. One of my friends asked me to make a cake for her daughters 1st birthday I of course agreed, mostly cause it was such a cute theme how could I turn it down.
Adorable right! I loved this cake, it was super easy and super fun.  Oh and then we went to Derek's moms house and he shoveled rocks for their landscaping, I cut watermelon and then we shot BB guns at birds. lol

I think he looks way more fierce then I do. But hey it was fun and we enjoyed the weekend in Casa Grande.
