On your mark, get set, go!

So back in July I had said I was going to participate in a triathlon. Well, I am officially committed to a date that date is June 11 in Payson AZ so it will be significantly cooler than if I was to do it in the valley. I am seriously so stoked! And the best part is I am inviting all my friends and family to join in on the fun! Here is the website for all the specifics, Payson Sprint Triathlon. So get your laces tied, your bike tuned and your goggles on, we're gonna do this!

Also, I found a training plan that can help us all get into shape. Here it is

If you build it they will come

In January one of the greatest things ever happened to us, we went from one o'clock church to eight o'clock church. This is the beginning of a very happy year. Now that I have introduced you to our wonderful new schedule let me tell you a story of the first Sunday we enjoyed this time frame. Derek and I came home to a very cold home, it was very cold that week so our house was freezing. I sat in front of our little space heater with a blanket and chips and salsa. Derek noticed me huddled there and came and joined me we shared my blanket and some warmth and some really yummy chips and salsa. I then said, "we should make a fort". Not thinking Derek would take me seriously I sat on the couch with my blanket and a book. He slowly started to pull out blankets, hockey sticks, golf clubs and anything else to support the coolest looking fort ever. As he started building our awesome fort he said "if you want in your going to help". I started helping my silly hubby take over our living room. We built for about half an hour and came up with this.

Isn't it lovely! We even set it up to include our T.V. Derek sent some pictures to family and friends. One of his friends thought it was so cool we invited them over to watch a movie and eat dinner. It was a blast. Before they came over Derek and I were able to read Harry Potter and take a nice nap. Talk about a future of awesome Sundays!

I know what your thinking, Dom you and Derek are 25/24 did you seriously build a fort. But I know your also thinking you guys are so AWESOME!!

Turtles with Nuts!

Dom has persuaded me to contribute to this blog. I whined, moaned, and threw a few items (we only have two glass cups now), but I finally gave in to her...well, lack for a better term, nagging. First things first, a little business. I know that my supervisor, who is so very pretty, is going to read this post so she needs to know a few things that I demand. First, in order to continue to participate with the blog, it needs to be a little more masculine. Second, I need at least three twenty minute back messages a week. Finally, I am going to need a frozen hot chocolate on the days that I do post.

I entitled this post, "Turtles with Nuts" because of a statement I overheard in the grocery store. I assume that this is what the future holds for this blog. Dom will write interesting posts that depict what is going on in our life, and I will write about the crazy and stupid people we encounter. I pushed my shopping cart up to the cash register and started unloading my items. Behind me a mother and her 6 year old child walked up and the only part of their conversation I heard brought a grin to my face. The mother said, "Of course turtles have nuts, if they didn't have any nuts they wouldn't be a turtle." I looked over at Dom and she gave me the "don't make a comment" look. Well okay, she wasn't talking about real turtles but it was funny.

A few changes....

So after much deliberation and lots of disagreements I have finally been able to talk Derek into posting on the blog. I love this blog and originally created it so that some day Derek would post, so a year and a half later he has finally agreed to become a poster on Balletflats and Baseball Caps! Yay!
